News from the School: Christ King Primary and High School reopened on 10th June 2013.  The children were very happy to come back to school and join the new classes.  Respective native towns and villages.  We have appointed 4 new teachers for the High School.

The children got free text book from the government. Well-wishers donated free note books and uniforms, bags, geometry boxes.

On May 30th the 10th Std results were announced: Total no. of Students who attended the S.S.L.C public Exam were 46.  43 children’s passed out and the remaining 3 including 2 boys and 1 girl failed. The Pass Percentage of the Christ King High School was 94%. 6 Students got above 400 marks out of 500, 28 students got above 300 marks, 26 students got above 90 percent in various subjects, one boy got 100 marks (centum) in Science,  and all the children passed in Maths.  We and the Teachers are very happy with the results, as the 1st Rank in our School scored very high this time than any other batch.

10th  and 11th  June Adolescent Training Programme was  conducted by the Integrated Child Development Scheme (of the Government). They organized this programme for the 9 and 10std students of Christ King High School.  Doctors and scientist were the Faculty, who educated them on Aneamia, personal hygiene, proper use of sanitary napkins and gave free supply of sanitary napkins for the adolescent girls. The children felt the Programme was very informative and useful and they thanked the Health Officers for taking time to educate them.

From 26th June the students are made to practice yoga and different exercises, meditation before and after lunch regularly,  and this programme was organized by the Govt Department and recommended to be a part of daily class schedules.

News from the Home

We have 7 girls and 10 boys newly admitted in our Home from nearby villages.  Total around 55 children 20 girls and 35 boys are in the home.  These children are economically poor and also have social problems.


Justin is taking care of the boys. He is taking care of the boy and also teaching in the school from June.

Income Generation Programme for the home Children.


The Southwest Monsoon rains are very good.  They have planted bitter gourd, greens, cluster beans; the children   weed the garden and water it.  The gardener helps them.  They have been plucking vegetables a lot last month.


The home has bought 500 fighter chicks; The Government is promoting to rear these birds as these species are vanishing. .  The Home children are very much interested in the poultry .We have received this supply of birds from the government, 25 persons also received these birds. In Thiruvallur District as part of income generation programme.

From the    VOULUNTEERS; Andreas and Martin


We, Andreas and Martin, two students from Nykoping  and  Mariestad,  Sweden  have  visited the school and orphanage in Katchur for a week. We  were  amazed  the  hospitality,  comradeship and  spirit  of  everybody  involved.  From  the minute  we  arrived  our  every  need  were  taken care of, they went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had great fun learning how to play cricket, losing at chess, playing badminton, learning some Tamil and teaching English. Share and Cares work in Katchur is impressing are we both hope it will forth live and help lots of children to come.
