Pongal Day Celebrations
On 14th January 2025, the students, staff, and community of Share and Care Children’s Welfare Society School, Christ King, gathered with great enthusiasm to celebrate Pongal, the vibrant harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. The school campus was beautifully transformed, radiating a spirit of joy and unity, as we embraced the rich cultural heritage of the festival. The celebrations commenced with a traditional Pongal pooja, offering gratitude for a bountiful harvest. Following the prayers, students and staff participated in the preparation of sweet Pongal—a delectable dish made of freshly harvested rice, jaggery, and ghee, symbolizing prosperity and the blessings of nature.
The festivities continued with a series of cultural programs that showcased the traditional arts of Tamil Nadu. Students danced to the rhythmic beats of Tamil folk music, bringing the joyous spirit of the festival to life through their colorful attire and graceful movements. The air was filled with excitement as students engaged in traditional games such as silambattam (a martial art form) and uri adithal (a game of breaking a pot tied to a height), promoting teamwork, laughter, and healthy competition among all.
